Hield: I don't understand why some players wouldn't want to team up with Steph. He draws so much def

Q: How would you evaluate your season?

Hield: I can honestly say this was the most enjoyable season of my basketball career. I told the guys in the locker room—this season flew by because I had so much fun. Every day, being around Steve (Kerr), this organization, my teammates, and the coaching staff, I felt truly welcomed.

It really felt like the season passed in a blink. On other teams I’ve been on, the season dragged—you’d just be counting down the days until it was over. But here? Not once did I think, "Man, I can’t wait for the offseason." Honestly, if the season ended today, I’d be a little sad because this year’s been so much fun. Preparing for the playoffs, competing every night—I just loved being here.

Q: Last summer, you were clearly drawn to Golden State, even before the team’s success this season. You’ve spoken highly of your teammates, but rosters change. Do you think other players around the league will take notice of what’s happening here?

Hield: I don’t know for sure, but man, this is a special place. On and off the court, it’s one of the best environments in the NBA.

I mean, I don’t get why some guys wouldn’t want to play with someone like Steph—he commands so much defensive attention. Or Draymond, who locks guys down and solves so many problems defensively while playing chess on the floor.

I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t want to come here and compete for a championship. Like I said, if Steph hadn’t gotten hurt, who knows how far we could’ve gone? But you can’t dwell on that—you just keep moving forward.

Still, I really don’t get why some players around the league wouldn’t want this. It’s a unique experience. Yeah, there are sacrifices, but they’re worth it—and honestly, they’re fun sacrifices.
