Earlier, renowned sports journalist Shams Charania mentioned in his latest report that the trade of Suns' star player Kevin Durant is all but certain.

During a show appearance, Shams Charania stated that the Suns would hire Cavaliers assistant coach Jordan Ott as their new head coach. Notably, Devin Booker participated in the final stage of the coaching search and strongly pushed for Ott to be the top choice, while Durant was not involved. The reason is that the Suns are expected to collaborate with Durant, his business partner, and Boardroom CEO Rich Kleiman to explore his next destination.


" The Suns will work with Kevin Durant and his business partners to seek a new landing spot for him," Shams Charania said. "Sources indicate that approximately four to six teams are expected to express strong interest in him this summer."


The Suns acquired Durant from the Nets via trade in 2023, but since then, they have only won one playoff series. In the past season, they missed both the playoffs and the play-in tournament.


Durant has one year left on his contract, with a salary of $54.7 million for next season.


Turning 37 in September, Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game for the Suns this season, shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc, and 83.9% from the free-throw line.
